English: CITATION OF BRAVERY
Royal Division Howitzers of Artillery
Bela Szell sat high on a tree for hours, under enemy fire, with a sketch pad monitoring the enemy’s position. Upon noticing the appearance of the Romanian troops, he notified his commander at once. His drawings of the enemy’s position helped his commander decide which tactics were needed to attack. It was while sketching under enemy fire that Szell incurred his injury
He exhibited under these conditions extraordinary show of loyalty, perception, energy and self sacrifice which resulted in his being wounded. He is a keen, courageous soldier who deserves special praise.
He already stood out in a previous battle exhibiting extreme courage.
